One of the big controversies surrounding the 2016 presidential debate has been about Senator Ted Cruzs citizenship and whether he can actually become president. Senator Ted Cruz was born in Canada to a US born mother and a Cuban born father. Article 2 of the US Constituition states that “No person except a natural born Citizen . . . shall be eligible to the Office of President.” But since Cruz was born in Canada, by common law is not a "natural born Citizen". But with out going to the Supreme Court or to Congress it is impossible to know whether Senator Ted Cruz is considered a "natural born Citizen" and whether he actually has standing to run for president.

I think it will just bring many questions and doubts if Ted Cruz runs for president. The same thing happen when Obama ran for president they questioned if he was actually born in American soil. In 2008 the senators passed a regulation making clear that they might be some exeptions when it comes to naturalize an individual.
