Natural born or nah?

This video helps elaborate.

Is Ted Cruz a natural born citizen or no? This has been a huge controversy since the beginning when he decided to run. Cruz was born in Canada 1970 and his mother was an American citizen, yet his father was a Canadian citizen. According to the constitution you must be a natural born citizen. Another big controversy with this is that in 1974 both Cruz's parents showed up on the Canadian voting list. http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2016/01/08/ted-cruz-parents-canada-voters-listArticle 2, Section 1, Clause 5: No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that Office who shall not have at- tained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

That is a hard decision. I feel since his mother was a citizen, but his father and other family members were not, then Cruz isn't a citizen. Since reading article 2 of the constitution, I came to that realization. That to be a citizen, you would need to have been born with BOTH parents being Americans. Although, there is the fact that he can go in front of court and get permission to run. Which is what he should do so he doesn't get sued by future candidates.

I agree with Janna. It does specifically say in the constitution that for somebody to be a "natural born" citizen both parents must be US citizens. However, after doing some research, it seems as some people believe that have one parents automatically made him a citizen the moment he was born. Being a citizen in both countries seems to be a problem but I believe that in the end Ted Cruz will be deemed not a naturally born citizen.

Everything that I have seen and read show that Cruz must have been born on U.S. soil. The wild card is when a candidate is born on a military out of the country. However, Cruz was not born on a military base. We will see how this pans out with Trump pressing the issue and the Democrats waiting in the wings.
